Richard's Barn

My friend Richard keeps our old, beat up cars running. This barn is now in worse shape than when I snapped the photo for this painting. His property is an artist paradise. Its beautiful! He has 5 or 10 acres of solitude filled with giant trees and brush. He has several old buildings around the property.

He customizes cars, making them into "leadsleds" like we did in the '50s. His main mode of transportation is a 1950 Chevy that is leaded and lowered, with a big engine. And he added air conditioning! He has about 100 old cars he is going to "fix up!" They are all lined up neatly and you never see them from the street. You will see them in upcoming paintings. By the way, he has a new modern steel building in which he does his work!

About Me…

Since the time I was old enough hold a pencil or a brush, I have been drawing and painting. My father owned a printing business so I had all the scrap paper any artist could want. Starting at about seven, I studied with several local artist groups in class settings. I then studied privately with a prominent local artist for about eight years. As an adult, I worked in the printing and graphic design industry, eventually owing my own business. I worked both as a professional and volunteer fire fighter for many years, painting off and on. Being attracted to the bright colored wardrobes, props, and opportunity of working with people, I started to clown about 1978. I went full time in 1992. I wrote the scripts, designed, built and painted the props and staging for over forty different shows. I designed my promotional materials. I also designed and then painted my personal canvas, my face, three to ten times a week. I am now making the transition back to my roots and training, using paint, pallet, and brush to create pictures and wall art. Much of what I am painting is from my life and work experiences. I paint what interests me at the moment. I especially love painting fire scenes in impressionist style. I want you to "feel the heat" when you view the painting! Thanks for looking!
