Baier's Garage Fire

I have posted this before, but I made some changes to the painting and decided to post again. I also corrected the spelling of their name. I have been painting as much a possible, but have not posted often. I need to change that and be more consistent.

This was the first fire I remember as a child. My mother looked out the kitchen window and screamed "something is on fire!"  I looked out and the night sky was an eery orange glow. We ran a half block to see our neighbor's garage being eaten by flames.

In the county, they were just starting a fire department and their one pumper had to travel about thirty miles to reach the scene. They did   save the back wall and a  part of the side walls. If you look closely, you can see the pumper arriving on the right side of the picture. Pretty exciting to this five or six year old! I did have nightmares about that fire for a long time afterward tho'.

This art would make a wonderful gift for a firefighter family member or friend. A wonderful remembrance for a brave hero retiring from the fire service. Perfect for home, den, "man (or woman) cave" or the fire station. If you have a child or young person interested in fire or emergency service, add this to their room decor. Don't forget the fire buff or collector of fire memorabilia they would love original artwork for their collection!
