Silver Sliver Moon

I woke up one early morning recently. Without turning on the light, I looked out the front door window. The silver sliver of a moon against the blue night sky gave me the opportunity to try recreating what our Creator already created.

Acrylic paint over double coated primed 6" x 6" x 1/4" wood panel. Protected with UV resistant varnish. Black finished edges mean the painting needs no frame.

What's Cookin' at the Diner???

The local TV station carried a news story about the reopening of a restaurant in a town nearby. They had a fire that destroyed the business. The station showed file video from months ago as the building was burning. I thought it might make an interesting painting of the flames creating a glow through the thick smoke.

Acrylic on triple primed wood panel. 5 1/2" x 6" x 1/4" Protected with UV varnish.

Intensity!

Here is another painting that I previously listed. I also did some reworking on the picture.

This company of fire fighters are filled with intensity as they concentrate on this rapidly expanding multi-alarm fire. They pull hose off their rig to prepare another hoseline to attack the fire.

Size: 10" x 12" Acrylic, Gallery wrapped with edges painted black, Ready to hang.

Baier's Garage Fire

I have posted this before, but I made some changes to the painting and decided to post again. I also corrected the spelling of their name. I have been painting as much a possible, but have not posted often. I need to change that and be more consistent.

This was the first fire I remember as a child. My mother looked out the kitchen window and screamed "something is on fire!"  I looked out and the night sky was an eery orange glow. We ran a half block to see our neighbor's garage being eaten by flames.

In the county, they were just starting a fire department and their one pumper had to travel about thirty miles to reach the scene. They did   save the back wall and a  part of the side walls. If you look closely, you can see the pumper arriving on the right side of the picture. Pretty exciting to this five or six year old! I did have nightmares about that fire for a long time afterward tho'.

This art would make a wonderful gift for a firefighter family member or friend. A wonderful remembrance for a brave hero retiring from the fire service. Perfect for home, den, "man (or woman) cave" or the fire station. If you have a child or young person interested in fire or emergency service, add this to their room decor. Don't forget the fire buff or collector of fire memorabilia they would love original artwork for their collection!

Lookin' Out My Back Door!

This is what I saw "lookin' out my back door" as a child. Every Monday was washday. My mother washed the clothes in the "Maytag" wringer washer. She then dried them the old fashioned way. The only dryers in those days were the Kansas wind and Kansas sunshine.

Acrylic on 4"x5" canvas panel.
